The month-long awareness and fundraising initiative culminates with “An Evening with Jeannie Seely & Friends” on Sept. 25 at Soho House Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – September 4, 2024 – Music for Seniors (MFS) welcomes Opry legend Jeannie Seely as Artist Ambassador and Honorary Chair of its upcoming “Lighting Up Lives” campaign, a month-long awareness and fundraising effort highlighting the impact of music on the health and happiness of older adults in Middle and East Tennessee. The initiative includes free concerts in both Nashville and Knoxville, and will culminate in the star-studded musical benefit, “An Evening with Jeannie Seely & Friends” on Wednesday, September 25 at Soho House Nashville.
The launch of the comprehensive campaign comes on the heels of the appointment of Music for Seniors’ new Executive Director, Liz Kelly. Kelly remarks, “This is an exciting time to be a part of the Music for Seniors leadership team as we launch ‘Lighting Up Lives,’ our newest initiative designed to engage new partners and donors, thank our existing supporters, and honor the musicians who are the heart of our programming. To have someone like Jeannie Seely who knows and appreciates the healing power of music join us in this endeavor is a dream come true and we’re thrilled to have her serve as our Artist Ambassador and Honorary Chair.”

Throughout the month, Music for Seniors is planning a variety of music-related activities targeted towards older adults including:
- Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1- 2p – Alison Brazil & Roots of Rhythm with special appearance by Jeannie Seely at Z. Alexander Looby Theater in Nashville, part of the Frank Dycus Legacy FREE Daytime Concert Series.
- Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1 – 2p – Pappy Fisher and Friends at Halls Senior Center in Knoxville, part of the Frank Dycus Legacy FREE Daytime Concert Series.
- Wednesday, Sept. 25, 6:15 – 9p – An Evening with Jeannie Seely & Friends at Soho House Nashville. Private, invitation-only event.

Founded in 2007, Music for Seniors is a nonprofit organization that connects area musicians with older adults through live and interactive music programs in Middle and East Tennessee designed to engage, entertain, and educate seniors – promoting health and wellbeing, reducing isolation, and enriching the lives of all participants.
