A Note from Executive Director, Liz Kelly

Older adult woman enjoying live music performance presented by Music for Seniors

Dear friends of Music for Seniors,

Maria Von Trapp said, “Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”

The power of music can bring about miracles in the hearts and minds of its audiences, and I am honored to join the Music for Seniors team as we take this work to the next level.

Graphic with stars and music notes that reads Lighting Up Lives 2024 Music for SeniorsThis September, Music for Seniors has launched our inaugural Lighting Up Lives campaign to raise awareness and community support for this vital work of bringing joy through sharing live music and lighting up the lives of older adults.

Throughout the month, we have a variety of music-related activities planned with the purpose of bringing joy and lighting up the lives of older adults in our communities!

Tuesday, September 17, 1pm-2pm | Alison Brazil & Roots of Rhythm with a special appearance by Jeannie Seely at the Z. Alexander Looby Theater in Nashville, part of the Frank Dycus Legacy FREE Daytime Concert Series.

Wednesday, September 18, 1pm-2pm | Pappy Fisher & Friends at Halls Senior Center in Knoxville, part of the Frank Dycus Legacy FREE Daytime Concert Series.

Music has been a powerful part of my own life, and I look forward to sharing more of my personal story with you as, together, we expand the reach and impact of Music for Seniors.

Throughout the Lighting Up Lives campaign you will hear about the specific benefits of music for the older mind, and hear stories of overwhelming joy and remarkable experiences through our programs and the powerful work of our musician partners.

Perhaps, most importantly, you’ll discover the part you were born to play in this life-giving work of bringing joy and lighting up the lives of older adults. For more details on how you can be a part of this exciting campaign, please visit our website at musicforseniors.org!

Gratefully,

Liz Kelly
