Charlie McCoy, Music for Seniors Volunteer, Virtuoso and Board Member

Charlie McCoy is a beloved international treasure who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009. A Grammy-winning session musician, harmonica virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist, Charlie is an elite member of the International Musicians Hall of Fame’s “Nashville A-Team” and member of The Grand Ole Opry.

When speaking with him about his illustrious 60-year country music career Charlie always brings the conversation back to his guiding belief: “I am blessed.”

Over the years, Charlie’s generosity and passion for our mission has certainly blessed Music for Seniors. He has performed for our Concert Series, kicked off our first-ever Ukulele Learning Lab and now he is now an active board member.

There are many older adults who are all alone in the world. Some live in nursing homes and assisted living communities, sometimes forgotten by the outside world.

Fifteen years ago Sarah Martin McConnell started “Music For Seniors” with a mission to connect these isolated seniors with local musicians. One way the organization does that is by visiting groups in these residential homes to share music with the people through Outreach. When I found out about this, I was very interested. Now I am a member of their board and eager to help Sarah and her team continue their amazing work!
