Serving Older Adults through Day Programs

One of the many ways that Music for Seniors shares live music programs with older adults is through daytime programs sponsored by one of our Community Partners, such as the Sunny Day Club.

The Sunny Day Club designs their programs to provide weekly fellowship and fun for older adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia while also providing their caregivers 3 hours of respite time each week. The Sunny Day Club hosts their programs at West End United Methodist Church, Brentwood United Methodist Church, and Bellevue Presbyterian Church and they invite us to provide live music programing through our Musician Partners.

“Music for Seniors is excellent. We are fortunate to be a recipient of such quality of music. Familiarity of the music is so important and the musicians play those familiar tunes.” – Julie Thomas, Sunny Day Club, Brentwood UMC

Always complimentary of our Musician Partners, these special groups not only love the variety of music we provide, but also the compassionate, relaxed and peaceful environment our Musician Partners create through their music programs.

“One lady with dementia who loves music will dance with a smile on her face and she looks forward to each visit from Music for Seniors. Our members love the programs and it can be seen on their faces and in their demeanor even if they are nonverbal. Musicians like Dayna Osan do a great job and capture our hearts” – Sue McSwiney

The feeling is mutual – as Musician Partner Dayna Osan shares…

“Visiting the Sunny Day Club is like visiting a group of friends you’ve known for a long time. They are always warm and always happy to hear a song and chat. I always look forward to visiting this group!”

Each of our Musician Partners have their own character and musical style, while each of the groups we serve have their own personality as well. Our focus is curating the right match between the two and facilitating programs which build meaningful connections between our Musician Partners and the Club members. Senior participants within these groups always welcome our Musician Partners with open arms, fostering caring and sincere relationships between them.

For 15 years, Music for Seniors has connected area musicians with older adults through live and interactive music programs designed to engage, entertain and educate seniors – promoting health and wellbeing, reducing isolation and enriching the lives of all participants.
